FAQ
Investors
Startups
What makes a Business Angel?
Business Angels invest in early-stage technology startups by offering their capital, knowledge and network. They are business owners, executive managers, and expert professionals, interested to make profitable investments both for themselves and selected startups. They know the risks involved in high potential investments and expect the returns in the medium and long term. Most importantly, they aspire to partner with promising founders and support them in their growth journey.
Is there any Membership fee?
Yes, there is. We have an annual Membership fee of 350 EUR in order to become part of our community.
What is the minimum investment amount?
The investment ticket amount starts from 5 000 EUR per Business Angel. The initial investment amount for a startup can range from 25 000 to 100 000 EUR. Afterwards, we tend to negotiate the right to participate in the follow-on investment rounds in order to maintain the ownership in the startup at the level of the initial investment.
Am I obliged to invest in startups when I join Mozaic?
The methodology is based on deal-by-deal structure where Business Angels approve to be a part of a particular investment, giving them the control in building their investment portfolio. Thus, you are not obliged to invest in a startup where you don’t consider it as an opportunity.
How does the investment process work?
The Business Angels are invited to the pitching session to get to know the founders. After that, the investors express their interest to meet with the particular startup in order to discuss more in details about the product. Based on the gained insights from all the workshops, done with the startup, Business Angels come with a soft commitment regarding the investment amount. In case of positive agreement of deal terms between the investors and founders, the legal documents are prepared and signed, and, eventually, the amount is transferred to the startup.
How risky are angel investments in startups?
Investing in startups involves high risks, including loss of capital, illiquidity, dilution, lack of dividends. It is suitable only for investors capable of evaluating and carrying those risks. Investments should only be made by Business Angels who understand these risks.
How to apply for fundraising?
By pressing the button “CONTACT US” you will be able to reach us through the contact form, specifically designated for those who are interested in getting the investment. Attaching the link to a well-structured Pitch Deck will help us understand what your startup is about.
What startups are you looking for?
First thing that we take into consideration is the Team which has the potential and experience to make the product/service successful. We are looking for technology startups that have high growth potential. Besides, having already existing clients and revenue is an advantage for attracting the Business Angels.
Are there any tech ideas that Mozaic Investors will not invest in?
We believe that there must be a fit between Business Angels and your brilliant idea. If the investors lack an understanding of how your startup operates, and are not able to provide mentoring, expertise knowledge and network, the most correct decision would be to not invest in your tech idea. In that case, it’s not you, it’s us.
How does the investment process work?
If you are accepted to pitch, the Business Angels are invited to the pitching session to get to know the founders. After that, the investors express their interest to meet with the particular startup in order to discuss more in details about the product. Based on the gained insights from all the workshops done with the startup, Mozaic Investors come with a soft commitment regarding the investment amount. In case of positive agreement of deal terms between the investors and founders, the legal documents are prepared and signed, and, eventually, the amount is transferred to the startup.
What happens if the startup is not selected for pitching and fundraising?
Please don’t take it personally if the startup is not accepted. We will do our best to give you constructive feedback, and, eventually, make a follow-up with you to see how you are progressing. You are welcome to send us email updates on your growth.
Are there any other things to keep in mind?
Think of your team as the rockstars of your startup. Show off their skills and experience, and highlight how they have successfully executed on similar projects in the past. Remember to keep it professional in your approach, as investors want to work with people they can trust and rely on to achieve success.
